Tell us about you (What drives you)
People drive me, hearing their stories. I don’t think you can work in talent or recruiting and not find people endlessly fascinating; everyone has a perspective, we all have different strengths, and truly incredible things happen when you get the right mix of people in the right place at the right time. I’m never the loudest person in the room but I’m definitely extroverted, in that I get my energy from being around others. Leave me on my own too long and I’m like a sad dog waiting at the door for my owner to come home.
Tell us a fun fact about you
I love trivia and quizzes. My Pointless trophy sits pride of place in my living room. Everyone else was bored of Zoom quizzes before I was. My secret dream is to have a massively successful pub quiz team, but none of my friends are into it.
What is your biggest fear?
Loneliness. I firmly believe social media is a force for good and has saved a lot of people from feeling alone this year. It’s so important to stay connected to others, these tools were built for that purpose.
Why did you join Tailify? I worked with Tailify for a short time last year via an agency, and there wasn’t a day I spent in the office that I didn’t learn something. Tailify hires people who are curious, passionate and enjoy their work immensely, I am really excited to be in that environment again.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Seeing my daughter happy. She’s just about to turn one and I’m proud of everything she does. She spends all day getting applauded, hopefully it’s not too much of a shock for her when she enters the real world and doesn’t get praise for eating a bit of toast.
If you could give your younger self 1 piece of advice, what would it be?
Procrastinating expends more energy than actually doing the work, so get cracking!
What is the single most valuable thing you’ve ever learned?
People have more grit and resilience than they know. I’m constantly blown away when I see what others can achieve against the odds. It gives me comfort to know that when the going gets rough, no matter how tough it feels at the time, you can get through it and be stronger for it.
If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, alive or dead, who would they be?
This Is Spinal Tap is my comfort movie, so Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, who all wrote and starred in the movie. We would eat sandwiches made of mini bread and laugh a lot.
My secret passion is…/ guilty pleasure
Karaoke, particularly power ballads. I cannot sing at all and I never know the lyrics but it is my favourite way to end a night out. I get more irritated than I should when I wind up in a booth with a really great singer. Karaoke is not for the talented, it is for tuneless wailing to Bon Jovi. But my absolute favourite thing is when drunk people try to rap and everyone joins in. It is simultaneously the best and worst sound in the world.
In the next 5 years, the biggest thing I want to achieve is…
Own a house in London and fill it with a happy family
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I am the least competitive person when it comes to any kind of athletic participation. I’ll happily watch sports but I loathe being on a team if I have to play. Win or lose, I simply do not care, but I will feign some kind of hustle if it’s important to you.
How do you think your colleagues will describe you in one year?
Hopefully as a culture champion, someone who really gets what makes a great Tailifyer
Who is your favourite influencer and how have they influenced you?
Christine May Nguyen. The only influencer to make ceramics cool! I took a class earlier this year to see if I had any unknown pottery talent. Turns out I don’t, but it was a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.
