Tailify Influencer Interview : Christine @tourdelust

Imagine yourself on a beach. The wind is blowing in your hair. The sun is like a warm blanket on your skin. The sound of the waves in your ears. Now imagine getting paid for being there? It sounds like a dream, right? The hotel and travel industry have taken a new path in marketing, collaborating with key influencers as a tool for advertising. Influencers have become our new friends, and we trust our friends don’t we? They usually have thousands, maybe even millions of followers watching their every move and observing their everyday life. Why not utilize this opportunity by engaging your target market in a deeper, more easy and trustworthy way? Our travel influencers are asked all the time how they get to travel to every corner of the globe, and we have the answer. We have interviewed a true globetrotter to delve deeper into her life. It is in fact just as amazing as it seems.



Christine, @tourdelust on Instagram, is one of our many travel influencers with the globe as her office. She has got over 150 000 followers on Instagram, a successful travel blogand a very long bucket list. She was kind to answer some of my questions about her life!


How did this career start for you? It all started with my friends and family encouraging me to start a blog based on my travels and food experiences. I was always giving them advice and decided to give it a go in 2016!


How many campaigns do you do per year approximately? This is hard to say since I’m still fairly new in this business, but in 2017 so far I’ve been getting at least 3 to 4 projects a month.


When travelling for a campaign, do you pay for anything? If yes – what? Typically, the brand I’m working with will cover most expenses. I would pay for my own shopping and any additional food or snacks.


How many countries have you been to? 29! I’m about to hit my 30th country next week!



How do you think the collaborations affect your followers? I think my followers love seeing what I’m doing. Since I’m a travel blogger I want to help inspire others to visit new destinations or have a positive outlook on places they never thought they would visit. I only support brands that I love and value or will use myself.


What is your favourite work related memory? Probably my first press trip to the Dominican Republic! It was amazing to experience your first trip. I was able to meet like minded individuals who have become some of my close friends today.


Why do you think companies use influencer marketing? I think it’s a new space that everyone is interested in. Before I was an influencer myself, I was following many fashion bloggers and always wanted to do what they were doing or wear the clothes they were wearing. When you follow a certain influencer you feel connected to them and trust their opinions and look up to them.


If you could choose any place in the world, where will you be in 10 years? That is a tough question. There are so many places I would love to be but I think somewhere in Europe like Italy, France or Greece.
